Helen J. Sarviss, 87, Mifflinburg
Helen Jean Sarviss, 87, formerly of Thompson St., Mifflinburg, entered into rest at 10:18 a.m., Saturday, May 25, 2013, at Buffalo Valley Lutheran Village, Lewisburg, where she had been a resident since November 1, 2012.
She was born May 12, 1926, in Northumberland, a daughter of the late Grover and Maude (Reichenbach) Neitz. On August 5, 1966, she married Wilbur G. Sarviss, who preceded her in death December 4, 1981.
Jean attended the Milton Schools.
She was employed at Pennsylvania House, Lewisburg, for 27 years.
Jean was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church, Mifflinburg, for 33 years, where she was a Sunday school teacher and teacher's aide at the Calvary Baptist Christian Academy.
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Harold W. and Joanne Murphy of Frederick, MD, and Franklin J. and Shari Murphy of Mifflinburg; three daughters and one son-in-law, Patricia J. Reynolds of Mifflinburg, Pamela J. Knouse of Milton, and Janice E. and Ronald Geiswite of Milton; one brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Charlotte Neitz of Milton; one sister, Betty Ficks of New Columbia; 14 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 14 great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by 2 brothers; and 5 sisters.
Family and friends are welcome from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m., Friday, at the Calvary Baptist Church, 332, E. Chestnut St., Mifflinburg, where the funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m., with Pastor Shawn A. McLain and Pastor James Taylor, officiating.
Burial will be in the Mifflinburg Cemetery.
