Herbert W. Wirth, Sr., 75, Mifflinburg
Herbert Warren Wirth, Sr., 75 of 768 Johnstown Rd., for the past 42 years, entered into rest at 5:30 a.m., Sunday, September 30, 2012, at Rolling Hills Manor, where he had been a resident since Tuesday.
He was born October 5, 1936, in Mifflinburg, a son of the late Herbert L. and Alda L. (Badger) Wirth. On October 26, 1956, in Mifflinburg, he married the former Ruth E. Brosius, who survives.
Herb was a 1955 graduate of Mifflinburg High School.
He served in the Navy from June 7, 1955 until his honorable discharge on May 29, 1959.
Herb was employed as a repairman at Derr Brother's Appliance and Reish's Appliance, Lewisburg, for 30 years. He then worked at Ritz-Craft, Mifflinburg, until he retired in 1998.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, and woodworking. Herb loved children, and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Surviving in addition to his wife of nearly 56 years, are three sons and one daughter-in-law, Glenn A. and Karen Wirth of Hughesville, Herb W., Jr. of Mifflinburg, and Robert W. Wirth of Cowan; three daughters and one son-in-law, Wanda K. Strickland and her partner Teresa Weiand of Mifflinburg, Donna J. Middleton of Milton, and Linda L. and Jason Schmidt Winnipeg, Canada; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Gordon Wirth of Northumberland, and Gary and Barbara Wirth of New Berlin; five sisters and two brothers-in-law, Edna Swalwell of Matlacha, Fla., June Hoffman of Mifflinburg, Dolores and Robert Mayer of Millmont, Nancy Milke of Mifflinburg, and Kathleen and Charles Pursell of Penns Creek; 10 grandchildren; and 8 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, John and Lionel Wirth; and two sisters, Marion Sauers, and Helen Long.
Family and friends are welcome from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday, at the Roupp Funeral Home, Inc., 8594 Old Turnrpike Rd., Mifflinburg, where the funeral service will be conducted at 8 p.m.
