Hope L. Stehr

Hope L. Stehr, 74, of Northumberland, formerly of Pitman, went home peacefully to her Lord and Savior at 11:07 p.m., Thursday, February 1, 2024, at Nottingham Village.

She was born February 14, 1949, in Pottsville, a daughter of the late Edward Q. and Lydia A. (Willier) Stehr.  

Hope was a graduate of Tri-Valley High School, and Lock Haven University.

She taught Physical Education at Canton High School for many years and then moved on to other endeavors. 

Hope’s passion for horses and teaching led her to become a licensed Therapeutic Riding Instructor. Through her gift of teaching and love for horses she influenced many young people and made a lasting impression on their lives. 

Surviving are two sisters and brothers-in-law, Joy and John Beck of Pitman, and Pamela and Allen Rushmer of Paradise; two nieces, Jillian Pisanni and Julie Beck, both from Lancaster; and one nephew, Jonathan Beck of Lancaster. 

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, February 11, at the New Life Church, 299 McMurray Road, Canton.

Private interment will be at Zion Evangelical Congregation Church Cemetery, Pitman.

Memorial gifts may be made to the Triangle Therapeutic Riding, Stony Run Fields, 30 Martin Drive, Reinholds, PA 17569.
