Howard F. Styer, 84, Lewisburg

Howard Francis Styer, 84, of 417 Swartz Rd., since 1955, entered into rest at 5:45 a.m., Thursday, August 22, 2013, at Kramm Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Milton.

He was born August 29, 1928, in Danville, a son of the late Charles and Emily (Crossley) Styer. On September 10, 1954, in Berwick, he married the former Janice L. Hill, who survives.

Howard was a 1947 graduate of Danville High School.

He attended the Christian Missionary Alliance Church, Mifflinburg.

Howard served in the Army during the Korean War, in Germany, from October 9, 1950 until his honorable discharge on September 15, 1952.

He was employed at American Home Foods, Milton, for 38 years until he retired in 1989.

Howard enjoyed music, playing the organ, and traveling with his wife to Texas during the winter months.

Surviving in addition to his wife of nearly 59 years, are five sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. Robert and Margaret Styer of Havertown, William and Dixie Styer of Morristown, NJ, Daniel and Susan Styer of Quinque, VA, David and Wendy Styer of Levittown, Dr. Eugene and Debra Styer of Richmond, KY; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Paul O. and Naomi Styer of Shermansdale, Fred and Emmaline Styer of Catawissa, and John and Shirley Styer of Danville; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Rachael Swartz of Lewisburg, and Hilda and Carl Cashner of Danville; one sister-in-law, Stella Styer, of Danville; 17 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Mary Louise Styer in 1960; and six brothers, Ralph, Leonard, Lloyd, Allen, Bruce, and Wilbur Styer.

Family and friends are welcome from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., Monday, at the Christian Missionary Alliance Church, 80 Church Rd., Mifflinburg, where the funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m., with Rev. Leslie Conklin and Rev. Glen Bayly, officiating.

Burial will be in the Mazeppa Union Cemetery.
