Jaxon Snyder

Jaxon Lee Snyder, age 13, passed away unexpectedly on August 20, 2024, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, after a brief illness. Jaxon was an eighth-grade student at Lewisburg Area Middle School, where he was not only known for his academic and athletic potential, but also for his vibrant, kind-hearted spirit that brightened the lives of everyone he met.

Jaxon was born on April 14, 2011, in Lewisburg, a beloved son of Nathan A. and Stacie L. (Shipton) Snyder. In addition to his parents, Jaxon is survived by his loving sister, Alexa R. Snyder, of Lewisburg; grandparents, Tom and Chris Shipton of Linden, and Laurie and Andy Moyer of Newmanstown; aunts and uncles, Shelby and Vince Orelli, and Christopher and Eugene Snyder; his cousins, Nash and Norah Orelli; as well as numerous teammates, coaches, teachers, and countless special friends. He was predeceased by his grandfather, Lloyd Snyder.

An exceptional athlete, Jaxon excelled in football and wrestling. His love for sports was evident in the dedication he brought to every practice and game. His father was his biggest fan and had the opportunity to coach him on various teams. Jaxon was a driven competitor in wrestling, earning numerous state medals and accolades through his talent, determination, and perseverance. Beyond the mat and the field, Jaxon was an avid fisherman and outdoorsman. Some of his happiest moments were spent on the water, casting lines for hours and sharing his passion for fishing with his dad and family. Jaxon also enjoyed vacationing at the beach, going to “the creek,” camping, listening to music, and spending quality time with his friends.

Jaxon achieved much in a short time, but it was his personality that truly set him apart. His devoted mother often speaks with warmth and pride about how Jaxon’s sweet and gentle nature was a gift to everyone since the day he was born. He had a way of making everyone feel welcome and included. His loved ones and friends describe “Big Dogg/Dawg” as funny, generous, and always ready to help. Jaxon had an uncanny ability to connect with people of all ages— he was a loving and caring big brother to Alexa, was often looked up to by his cousin Nash and other younger children, as he always took them under his wing, was a loyal and kindhearted friend to his peers, and was a constant source of joy to adults. His smile lit up every room. His witty personality and his laughter will never be forgotten. Jaxon’s compassion knew no bounds, and his inclusivity and warmth left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him, bringing us endless laughter, love, and pride. Jaxon was a friend to all, and his memory will continue to inspire kindness and friendship.

Jaxon will be deeply missed by his family, friends, classmates, teammates, and all those whose lives he touched. Though his time with us was far too short, his legacy of compassion and joy will live on in our hearts. We ask that you continue to spread his “Big Dawg Mentality” so his light will forever shine in this world.

 Family and friends are welcome to a time of visitation from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., Thursday, August 29, 2024, at Buffalo Community Church, 4445 Hoffa Mill Road, Lewisburg, where the memorial service will be conducted at 7 p.m., with Pastor Eddy Hostetler, officiating. The family requests those in attendance wear their favorite school sport/club shirts to represent the reach of Jaxon’s love.
