Jean R. Flynn, 81, Lewisburg
Jean Rhudy Flynn, 81, of Lewisburg, formerly of Baltimore, entered into rest at 7:10 a.m., Tuesday, July 27, 2010, at Buffalo Valley Lutheran Village, where she had been a resident since 2008.
She was born January 30, 1929, in Baltimore, a daughter of the late Charles Spurlock and Regina E. (Matthaei) Rhudy.
Jean was a member of the Maryland Presbyterian Church, Towson for many years.
After graduating Summa Cum Laude from the College of Notre Dame of Maryland in 1950, Jean later taught Drama and Speech at the college and was active with the Hopkins Theater Drama Club as well as an actress in the Vagabond Players of Baltimore.
Jean was a kindergarten and first grade teacher in Baltimore City.
She enjoyed theater, reading, music, and fashion. Jean and her friends formed the Wise Women's Club in Baltimore.
Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Robert P. and Diane Flynn of Manchester, Maryland; three daughters and sons-in-law, Maura J. and Deno Vlachos of Berlin, Maryland, Cathleen F. and Joseph Stenglein of DuBois, and Mary Clare and Gil Hughes of Powhatan, Virginia; a daughter-in-law, Melanie Flynn of San Diego, CA; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Charles S. and Janet Rhudy of Fairfield, Conn., and Richard M. and Jan Rhudy of Reston, Virginia; one sister and brother-in-law, Elizabeth and Gerhardt Austin of Storrs, Conn.; 11 grandchildren; and 3 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Michael David Flynn, in February, 2009 in San Diego, CA.
Jean's life will be celebrated privately at the convenience of the family.
Burial will be in the Maryland Presbyterian Memorial Garden.
