Jeanne L. Sauers, 86, New Berlin
Jeanne Lorraine Sauers, 86, a lifelong resident of New Berlin, and of 312 Plum St., since 1966, went to be with the Lord and her husband at 9:45 p.m., Sunday, October 3, 2010, at her home.
She was born January 27, 1924, in New Berlin, a daughter of the late John Marlyn and Josephine (Solomon) Spangler. On August 2, 1947, at the Messiah Evangelical Lutheran Church, New Berlin, she married John W. Sauers, who preceded her in death on September 30, 1998.
Jeanne was a lifetime member of the Messiah Evangelical Lutheran Church, New Berlin.
She was a 1941 graduate of Lewisburg High School and attended Bucknell University.
Jeanne was employed as a recruiting coordinator for 17 years, in the career planning center at Bucknell University, Lewisburg.
She was past president of the New Berlin American Legion Post 957 Auxillary, Mifflinburg Order of Eastern Star, life member of the Heritage Association, and the 20th Century Club of Mifflinburg.
Jeanne enjoyed spending time at her cabin and with her grandchildren, to whom she was known as "Meme".
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Joel S. and Sharon J. Sauers of Palm Harbor, FL, and Jameson L. and Tracy A. Sauers of Mifflinburg; two brothers and sisters-in-law, John Marlyn and Nancy Spangler of Milton, and Timothy and Carole Spangler of New Berlin; three grandchildren and their spouses, Abby and Andrew Schnure of Mifflinburg, Justin and Jennifer Sauers of Leland, NC, and Zachary Sauers of Mifflinburg; three great grandchildren, Macie and Madden Schnure, and Lyla Sauers.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Dorothy Eaton.
Family and friends are welcome from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., Wednesday, at the Roupp Funeral Home, Inc., 8594 Old Turnpike Rd., Mifflinburg, where the funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m., with Rev. Andrew Fitch, officiating.
Burial will be in the New Berlin Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to either the Michael Hobbins Fund, C/O Mifflinburg Bank & Trust, 250 E. Chestnut St., Mifflinburg, PA 17844, or Messiah Evangelical Lutheran Church, 308 Market St., New Berlin, PA 17855.
