John S. Mitchel, Jr., 71, Milton
John Samuel Mitchel, Jr., 71, of 6995 Paradise Rd., formerly of Hartleton, entered into rest at 9:32 p.m., Friday, June 10, 2011, at Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg.
He was born October 19, 1939, in Lewisburg, a son of the late John S., Sr. and Martha (Baker) Mitchel.
John was a 1957 graduate of Mifflinburg High School.
He honorably served in the Army from 1958 to 1960.
John was a member of the Christ's Community Church, Glen Iron.
He was employed at Purina, Lewisburg. John also was employed as a salesman at Yocum Farm Supply, Allenwood, and owned and operated a chicken catching business for many years.
Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Lester and Gidget Mitchel of Sunbury; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Margaret Henry of Watsontown, Nancy and Dale Rovenolt of Milton, and Cathy and Ron Randall of Virginia; one brother and sister-in-law, David and Karen Mitchel of Alaska; two sisters, Betty Finsterbush of Mifflinburg, and Joanne Dangolovich of Mifflinburg; 11 grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Martha Grove; one brother, Clarence Mitchel; and one sister, Dorothy Kessler.
A memorial service to celebrate the life of John will be conducted at 2 p.m., Tuesday, at the Christ Community Church of Glen Iron, 2746 State Route 235, with Pastor Henry Dorman and Pastor Richard VonNeida, officiating.
Funeral arrangements are by Roupp Funeral Home, Inc., 8594 Old Turnpike Rd., Mifflinburg.
