John R. Stamm, Jr., 60, Mifflinburg

John Robert Stamm, Jr., of 318 Fisher Circle, entered into rest at 7:03 p.m., Wednesday, January 9, 2013, at his home.

He was born February 29, 1952, in Lewisburg, a son of John R., Sr. and Betty M. (Ruhl) Stamm of Millmont.

On November 20, 2008, he married the former Wanda Jo Renner, who survives.

Surviving in addition to his parents and wife, are one son and daughter-in-law, Jeromy and Shanon Stamm of Mifflinburg; one daughter and son-in-law, Jamie and John Peck of Celebration, Florida; one step-son and step-daugher-in-law, Eric and Christine Verret of Selinsgrove; 2 grandchildren, Jillian and Gwen.

John had a courageous spirit, loving nature, and an amazing sense of humor.

He also had great love for the entire Mifflinburg Community.

John was a 1970 graduate of Mifflinburg Area High School.

John owned and operated the Mifflinburg Telegraph since 1992. He began working at the Telegraph at the age of 17. John also worked as a printer at Wood Mode, Kramer, for 13 years.

He was a member of the Christ's United Lutheran Church, Millmont, where he was a member of the church council, directed pot pie suppers and the West End food stand.

He was active in the Boy Scouts of America for over 50 years. John earned his wood badge in 2003, and served on the Host Corp for several wood badge courses. He served as executive board member for the Susquehanna Council, was active on the camping committee, vigil member of the Order of the Arrow, enjoyed assisting at Camp Karoondinha, Glen Iron, and was known for making the baked beans at the annual Boy Scout Bar-b-que.

John was a board member of the Mifflinburg Buggy Museum, member of the Blue Lodge, Northumberland, West End Lions Club, and Central Susquehanna Builders Association.

John's passion was cooking, and his love was printing. He also enjoyed woodworking.

A memorial service to celebrate John's life will be conducted at 3 p.m., Monday, at the Christ's United Lutheran Church, 13765 Old Turnpike Rd., Millmont, with Rev. John D. Yost, officiating.

A fellowship time with John's family and friends will immediately follow the service in the church fellowship hall.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either The American Cancer Society, 1948 E. Third St., Suite F, Williamsport, PA 17701 or Susquehanna Council of Boy Scouts of America, 815 Northway Rd., Williamsport, PA 17701.

Funeral arrangements are by Roupp Funeral Home, Inc., 8594 Old Turnpike Rd., Mifflinburg.
