STATE COLLEGE - Joyce Crissey Ilgen, 90, of the Fairways and Village Heights at Brookline since 1999, formerly of Orlando and Merritt Island, Fla., and Mifflinburg, entered into rest at 6:20 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2009, at the Fairways.
She was born Nov. 25, 1918, in Bedford, a daughter of the late Clyde Charles and Alice (Harrison) Crissey. On June 4, 1955, in Wilkinsburg, she married L. Paul Ilgen Jr., who preceded her in death Jan. 14, 2006.
After graduation from Bedford High School, she attended Morton's Business School and the University of Pittsburgh while working in the corporate office of the Methods and Procedures Division of Westinghouse Electric Co., Pittsburgh.
After leaving a lucrative career there, Joyce, known as the "Ice Lady," and her husband, Paul, the "Ice Man," owned and operated three successful business ventures, the L.P. Ilgen Ice and Cold Storage Plant in Lewisburg, the Ice Pantry in Orlando, Fla., and Village Ice in Cocoa, Fla.
Joyce was a 50-year member of Order of Eastern Star, Chapter 152, Mifflinburg, and First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Mifflinburg.
She enjoyed life, being around people, especially kids, sharing time with her family and friends, and making new acquaintances wherever she went.
Joyce was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She is survived by her brother-in-law, Alfred Diehl, of Centre Hall; sister-in-law, Nellie Crissey, of Manns Choice; sister-in-law, Anne and her husband, Clayton Warman, of Buckeystown, Md.; brother-in-law, Harvey and his wife, Brenda Ilgen, of Mifflinburg; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband of 50 years, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Clyde Crissey and Albert Crissey and his wife, Jenny, and one sister, Maxine Deihl.
There will be no public viewing. The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in the Roupp Funeral Home Inc., 8594 Old Turnpike Road, Mifflinburg, with the Rev. James Rill officiating.
Burial will follow in Mifflinburg Cemetery.

Joyce's family is deeply grateful for the compassionate care provided to her by all of her loving caregivers during her lengthy illness.
