Joyce Keefer

Lewisburg – Joyce Ellen Keefer, 85, of 1605 Beaver Run Rd., entered into rest Thursday, February 25, 2016, at her home.

She was born May 27, 1930, in Lewisburg, a daughter of the late John Stuart and Mary Catherine (Winkelblech) Zeigler.  On June 2, 1949, in St. John’s Lutheran Church, Lewisburg, she married Kenneth L. Keefer who preceded her in death on October 4, 2011.

Joyce was a graduate of Lewisburg High School, Class of 1948, she was a proud sheep farmer’s wife and earlier in life worked in the kitchen at Buffalo Valley Nursing Home, worked for Hackenberg Apiaries, Lewisburg and Pop’s Oak Furniture, Vicksburg.

She was a member of the Reformed Baptist Church, Lewisburg, for 64 years.  She devoted her life to church fellowship and loved traveling and spending time with her family.

Surviving are a son, and daughter-in-law, Daniel and Nancy Keefer of Lewisburg; three daughters and one son-in-law, Jane Basehoar of Harrisburg, Mary Ann Shirk of South Williamsport, and Beth and Steven Reeser of Montoursville; six grandchildren, Jason Shirk, Rachel and her husband Sandy Voellinger, Philip Keefer and his wife Jane, Hannah and her husband Jon Stogner, Colby and her husband Michael Kolb and Jennifer and her husband Benjamin Harris, ten great grandsons and a great granddaughter.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Ruth Zeigler, Anna Wehr, Helen Folk and Edith Feaster.

Family and friends are welcome from 10-11:00 am Monday at the Reformed Baptist Church, 830 Buffalo Road, Lewisburg, where the funeral will be conducted at 11 with Pastor Rod Conner officiating.

Burial will be in Mazeppa Union Cemetery.
