Kathryn Moyer

LEWISBURG – Kathryn Elizabeth Moyer, 98, formerly of Beaver Springs, and a resident of Lewisburg since 1992, entered into rest at 10:35 p.m., Tuesday, March 1, 2016, at Riverwoods, Lewisburg.

She was born August 26, 1917, in Dalmatia, a daughter of the late Jacob I. and Nadia Margaurite Lahr.  On October 4, 1936, in Hagerstown, Maryland, she married Ralph L. Moyer, who preceded her in death January 10, 1991.

Kathryn graduated as Valedictorian of the 1935 class of the Lower Mahanoy Township Consolidated Schools.

She was employed at sewing factories in the Beaver Springs area, and also painted houses with her husband.

Kathryn was a member of the Christ’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lewisburg, since 1993, where she was a member of the ladies sewing group.  Earlier in life, she was a member of the Christ’s Church of Beaver Springs where she was a Sunday school teacher and organized bible school.

She was a member of the Beavertown Grange, Lewisburg Eastern Star #394, and volunteered as a 4-H leader, and at the Lewisburg Senior Center.

Kathryn was a accomplished seamstress, an avid reader, and enjoyed crossword puzzles, fishing, gardening, flowers, and exploring nature with her husband.

Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Dawn and Donald Moyer of Lewisburg; one daughter-in-law, Deborah Moyer of Ishpeming, Michigan; 6 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; 4 step great grandchildren; and 9 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one son, Brian L. Moyer; one granddaughter, Mitzi Wethington; and three sisters, Marian, Dorothy, and June.

Family and friends are welcome to a time of visitation from 9:30 to 10 a.m., Saturday, at the Christ’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 100 S. Third St., Lewisburg, where the funeral will be conducted at 10, with Rev. William S. Henderson, officiating.

Burial will be in the Adamsburg Cemetery, Beaver Springs.

The family will provide flowers, memorial gifts may be made to either the Public Library for Union County, 255 Reitz Blvd, Lewisburg, PA 17837, or the Christ’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 100 S. Third St., Lewisburg, PA 17837.
