MIFFLINBURG – Kathryn Letha Steimling, 81, of Mifflinburg, went home to be with her Lord, at 7:24 a.m., Saturday, September 24, 2016, at Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg. For the past two years, she had received much appreciated care at Rolling Hills Manor, Millmont.
She was born September 1, 1935, in Danville, a daughter of the late Harry and Velma (Moll) Predix. On September 18, 1954, at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Mifflinburg, she married Robert E. Steimling, who survives. Her death separates a union of 62 years.
Kathryn was a graduate of Mifflinburg Area High School.
She was employed at Huntingdon Silk Mill, Mifflinburg, and in previous years at Phillips Hotel, Shamokin Dam. Kathryn spent most of her life as a homemaker and will always be remembered as a wonderful cook and baker for her family, especially for her husband.
Kathryn was always interested in her family and enjoyed watching, first her son, then grandsons, then nephews, in a variety of sports. She was always active and involved with her nieces and nephews, especially in their younger years. Kathryn also spent many happy days at Knoebels.
She was a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Mifflinburg, where she served on the Alter Guild and Circle of Hope, for many years.
Surviving in addition to her husband of 62 years, are one son and daughter-in-law, Michael E. and Marian “Mamie” Sorg-Steimling of Mifflinburg; two grandsons and their fiancee’s, Joshua M. Steimling and Shannon Maag of Carlisle, and Justin A. Steimling and Kelly McCloud of State College; one sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Vernon Gessner of Mifflinburg; one brother, Henry Predix of Watsontown; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Francis Predix.
As per Kathryn’s wishes, there will be no public viewing or funeral. A graveside service will be conducted privately at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to either the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 404 Market St., Mifflinburg, PA 17844, or to Rolling Hills Manor, 17350 Old Turnpike Rd., Millmont, PA 17845.
