Kenneth LaRay Haines, 83, of Mifflinburg, entered into rest at 8:28 a.m., Saturday, March 9, 2024, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
He was born August 10, 1940, in Beaver Springs, a son of the late George Paul and Arie Annie Alice (Bickel) Haines. On May 13, 1962, in the Buffalo Valley Church of the Brethren, Mifflinburg, he married the former Nancy I. Long, who survives.
Ken was a 1958 graduate of Mifflinburg High School.
He served in the Air Force from 1962 until his honorable discharge in 1966.
Ken was the owner and operator of Haines & Sons Contracting, Mifflinburg. Earlier in life, he was a truck driver for 20 years, and was roadmaster for Limestone Township.
He was a member of the Buffalo Valley Church of the Brethren, since 1962, where he was a teacher at the church for 30 years, and a member of the Golden Oldies. Ken was also a lifetime member of the Kratzerville Fire Company.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 61 years, are four sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth, Jr. and Sandra Haines of Kratzerville, Michael Haines and his companion Debra Stroup of Mt. Pleasant Mills, Brian and Teresa Haines of White Springs, and Brent and Barbara Haines of Middleburg; one daughter and son-in-law, Lori and Darvin Maurer of Selinsgrove; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Carl H. Haines of Winfield, and George P., Jr. and Velma Haines of Mifflinburg; one sister, Dorothy Strawser of Selinsgrove; one sister-in-law, Ruth Haines of Mifflinburg; 11 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren, and 1 expected great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by six brothers, David, Howard, Charles, Raymond, Glenn, and Stanford; and six sisters, Goldie Ruloff, Alice Weller, Constance Defacies, Pauline Boop, Mamie Gilbert, and Celesta Dauberman.
Family and friends are welcome from 9 to 11 a.m., Thursday, March 14, at the Buffalo Valley Church of the Brethren, 46 Brethren Church Rd., Mifflinburg, where the funeral will be conducted at 11, with Pastor Eric Reamer, officiating.
Burial will be in the Buffalo Valley Church of the Brethren Cemetery, with military honors accorded by the American Legion Post 410 and VFW Post 1964, both of Mifflinburg.
