Kenneth L. Keefer, 85, Lewisburg
Kenneth LaRue Keefer, 85, of 1605 Beaver Run Rd., entered into rest at 5:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 4, 2011, at Riverwoods, Lewisburg, where he was a resident since September 25th.
He was born June 17, 1926, in Danville, a son of the late Harry and Annie (Feaster) Keefer. On June 2, 1949, at the St. John's Lutheran Church, Lewisburg, he married the former Joyce Zeigler, who survives.
Kenneth was a member of the Reformed Baptist Church, Lewisburg, for 59 years.
He was a 1944 graduate of Mifflinburg High School.
Kenneth was a self-employed builder for 23 years, as well as the owner and operator of the Keefer family farm where he raised dairy cattle and sheep.
He enjoyed traveling with his wife, farming, raising sheep, spending time with his family and friends, and church fellowship.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 62 years, are one son and daughter-in-law, Daniel and Nancy Keefer of Lewisburg; three daughters and one son-in-law, Jane Basehoar of Harrisburg, Mary Ann Shirk of South Williamsport, and Beth and Steven Reeser of Montoursville; six grandchildren, Jason Shirk, Rachel Heisman, Philip Keefer, Hannah Stogner, Colby Kolb, and Jennifer Shirk; and nine great grandsons.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Elwood and Delmer Keefer; and one sister, Marjorie Keefer.
There will be no public viewing. Family and friends are welcome from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., Friday, at the Reformed Baptist Church, 830 Buffalo Rd., Lewisburg, where the funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m., with Pastor Les Clemens, officiating.
Burial will be in the Mazeppa Union Cemetery.
