MILLMONT – Kenneth S. “Ben” Shirk, Jr., 67, of 4910 Weikert Rd., for the past 57 years, entered into rest at 12:19 p.m., Sunday, May 8, 2016, at his home.
He was born June 9, 1948, in Lewisburg, a son of the late Kenneth S., Sr. and Dorothy Mae (Shorter) Shirk. On May 2, 1969, in Millmont, he married the former Janice S. Hunter, who survives.
Ben was a 1966 graduate of Mifflinburg High School.
He was employed at the Laurelton Center, working in the heat plant for 30 years.
Ben attended the Hironimus Union Church, Weikert.
He was a life member of the West End Fire Company, and an active member and served on the board of directors of the Union County Sportsmen’s Club, Weikert, for 40 years.
Ben enjoyed hunting, fishing, laying mountain stone, yard work at his home, family cookouts, and attending his grandchildren’s sporting events.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 47 years, are one son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth H. and Sandy Shirk of Millmont; one daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Mike Rodarmel of Weikert; five grandchildren, Kenneth R. Shirk, and Skyler, Ben, Jacob, and Jack Rodarmel; and one sister and brother-in-law, Joan and Jay Morton of North Carolina.
Family and friends are welcome to a time of visitation from 6 to 7 p.m., Thursday, at the Roupp Funeral Home, Inc., 8594 Old Turnpike Rd., Mifflinburg, where a memorial service will be conducted at 7, with Pastor Richard DeVett, officiating.
