Kenneth L. Smith, 92, of Mifflinburg, entered into rest Saturday, October 5, 2024, at home.
He was born May 27, 1932, in Danville, the son of the late Harry L. and Lois I. (Lytle) Smith. On June 9, 1951, in Mifflinburg, he married the former Patricia Zimmerman, who survives.
Ken was a 1950 graduate of Mifflinburg Area High School.
He served in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict, from 1951 until his honorable discharge in 1955.
Ken was employed by the Mifflinburg Post Office where he served as a rural mail carrier for 42 years.
He was a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Mifflinburg, where he served on church council.
Ken was a member of the Free & Accepted Masonic Lodge #370, Mifflinburg, Williamsport Scottish Rite, and the Mifflinburg American Legion Post 410.
He enjoyed woodworking, crafts, helping build houses, gardening, and listening to big band music. Ken was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and coached Little League Baseball in Mifflinburg for many years.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 73 years, are four sons and two daughters-in-law, Daniel and Anne Smith, Scott and Sue Smith, and Stephen “Fred” Smith, all of Mifflinburg and Sam Smith of New Berlin; one daughter and one son-in-law Elizabeth “Betsy” and Donnie Wickline of Prince George, Virginia; 13 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and one sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Bruce Graham of Mifflinburg.
He was preceded in death by sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Wayne Shively.
Family and friends are welcome to a time of visitation from 10 to 11 a.m., Friday, October 11, at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 404 Market St., Mifflinburg, where the memorial service and Masonic service will be conducted at 11, with Rev. Curt Wingert, officiating.
Private interment will be in the Mifflinburg Cemetery, where military honors will be accorded by American Legion Post 410 and VFW Post 1964, both of Mifflinburg.
Memorial gifts may be made to either the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 404 Market St., Mifflinburg, PA 17844, or Shriners Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, 3551 North Broad Street, Philadelphia, PA 19140.
