Leon N. Roadarmel, 88, Mifflinburg

Leon Norman Roadarmel, 88, of 423 Green St. since 1957, entered into rest at 4:00 p.m., Sunday, December 20, 2009, at his home.

He was born April 22, 1921 in Mifflinburg, a son of the late Nellie (Walter) Roadarmel.

Leon was a 1939 graduate of Mifflinburg High School.

He served in the Army Air Corp Signal Corp, in the Pacific, from 1940 until he was honorably discharged in 1945 with rank of Master Sergeant.

Leon was a member of the St. John's United Church of Christ, Mifflinburg, for 76 years.

He was employed by various woodworking industries in the area.

Leon was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1964, American Legion Post 410, and Loyal Order of Moose, all in Mifflinburg.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, and spending time in the outdoors. Leon especially enjoyed sharing time with his family at his camp in Huntingdon County. He also enjoyed sharing his knowledge of the history of Mifflinburg.

Leon was a good neighbor, and was known for taking care of the neighborhood cat, "Arthur".

Surviving are one nephew, Gary A. Dreibelbis of Cincinnati; two nieces, Diane and her husband Wally Brown of Casco, Maine, and Claire Andrews of Scarboro, Maine; one great nephew, Michael Dreibelbis of Rensselaer, NY; two great nieces, Jamie Andrews, and Lisa Andrews of Scarboro; and his adopted family, Susan Smith of Williamsport, John and April Smith of Tennessee, Lisa and Jeff Dincher and family of Jersey Shore, Heidi and Jeff Cupp of Jersey Shore, and the Multher family.

He was preceded in death by his companion, Gladys A. Ranck; two brothers, Earl Walter and Clair Dreibelbis; and sisters-in-law, Katherine Walter, Mary K. Dreibelbis, and Joan Dreibelbis.

Visitors may call from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., Wednesday, at the Roupp Funeral Home, Inc., 8594 Old Turnpike Rd., Mifflinburg, where the funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m., with Rev. Susan Gabbard, officiating.

Burial will be in Ray's Church Cemetery, Lewis Township.

Memorial contributions may be made to the St. John's United Church of Christ, 417 Market St., Mifflinburg, PA 17844.
