Luella K. Bingaman, 93, Mifflinburg

Luella Kathryn Bingaman, 93, a resident of RD Millmont from 1943 to 2001, and most recently of 101 E. Walnut St., Mifflinburg, entered into rest Friday morning at Buffalo Valley Lutheran Village, where she had been a resident for the past 3 years.

She was born January 27, 1919, in Port Trevorton, a daughter of the late Lloyd and Edna (Reitenbach) Herrold. On August 22, 1936, at the home of Rev. Green Shively in Millmont, she married Fred S. Bingaman, who preceded her in death April 21, 1993.

Luella attended the Chapman Township School.

She was a member of the Lincoln Chapel United Methodist Church, Laurelton, for nearly 60 years, where she was a Sunday school teacher.

Luella was employed at Par-Knit, Mifflinburg, and the Laurelton State School.

She was well known for her fine stitchery, and made quilts that were shipped all over the United States and Europe. Luella also enjoyed tending to her flowers at her home.

Luella was a member of the West End Senior Center, Laurelton.

Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Stanley and Carol Bingaman of Mifflinburg, and Ronald and Leslie Bingaman of Sunbury; three daughters and one son-in-law, Ruth Ann and Allan Sampsell of Milton, Joyce Rivera of Mifflinburg, and Linda Englehart of Millmont and her companion Charles Hulsizer; one sister, Elsie Sprenkle of Middleburg; one daughter-in-law, Shirley Bingaman of Middleburg; 12 grandchildren; and 27 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one son, Larry Eugene Bingaman on February 17, 1998; two brothers, Clarence and Milton Herrold; two sisters, Edna Spickler, and Grace Wertz; and three great grandchildren, Jeffrey Hans, Justin Englehart, and Tyler Bingaman.

Family and friends are welcome from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Monday, and 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m., Tuesday, at the Roupp Funeral Home, Inc., 8594 Old Turnpike Rd., Mifflinburg, where the funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m., with Pastor Richard L. DeVett, officiating.

Burial will be in the Hartleton Cemetery.
