Mabel "Sue" Shively

Mabel “Sue” Shively, 77, of Millmont, entered into rest at 11:20 a.m., Friday, December 15, 2023, in Lewisburg, as a result of injuries sustained in a pedestrian accident.

She was born April 25, 1946, in Aaronsburg, a daughter of the late Bruce R. and Sarah J. (Korman) Vonada.

Sue was a 1964 graduate of Penns Valley High School.

She was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church, Middleburg, where she was a Sunday school teacher and assisted in the kitchen.

Sue was employed at Yorktowne, Mifflinburg, for over 30 years, until she retired in 2008, and earlier in life she was employed at the Hosiery Mill, Millheim.

Sue enjoyed walking on the rail-to-trail in Mifflinburg, collecting Longenberger baskets, and spending time with her dog, Princess.

Surviving are two sisters and one brother-in-law, Betty and Harold Reber of Mifflinburg, and Linda Luse of Aaronsburg; one brother-in-law, Truman Matters; her close friends, Glenn and Darlene Martin of Millmont; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by six brothers, Seymore, Stewart, Dean, Donald, Ray, Sr., and Lester “Snap” Vonada; and three sisters, Gladys Boone, Shirley Wittmer, and Helen Matters.

A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m., Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at the New Hope Baptist Church, 8709 US-522, Middleburg, with Pastor Mike Miller, officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the New Hope Baptist Church, 8709 US-522, Middleburg, PA 17842.
