Margaret "Peggy" Murphy

Margaret "Peggy" Jane Murphy, 86, formerly of Lewisburg, entered into rest at 4:30 p.m., Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at Glen Brook Rehab and Nursing, Berwick.

She was born May 16, 1938, in Lewisburg, a daughter of the late Wilbert G. and Mary Alice (Fertig) Wolfe. On January 26, 1963, she married Williard H. Murphy, who survives.

Peggy was a 1956 graduate of Lewisburg High School.

She was employed at Mench Real Estate as a secretary for 25 years.

Peggy was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Lewisburg, where she was active with the youth, teaching Sunday School, and was in the church choir since she was 13.

She was an avid collector of angels and enjoyed reading, watching movies, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Surviving in addition to her husband of 61 years, are three sons and two daughters-in-law, Michael and Cynthia Murphy of Mifflinburg, Daniel and Ann Murphy of Lewisburg, and Patrick Murphy of Montandon; 7 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Marsha Wolfe of Lewisburg; and two brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Raymond and Joyce Murphy of Williamsport, and Thomas and Marion McNutt of Hughesville.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Wilbert Wolfe Jr.; and two sisters, Anna Swinehart and Nancy Wolfe.

Family and friends are welcome from 10 to 11 a.m., Monday, June 17, 2024, at Roupp Funeral Home, Inc., 8594 Old Turnpike Road, Mifflinburg, where the funeral will be conducted at 11, with Rev. Daniel Wilt, officiating.

Burial will follow in New Berlin Cemetery.
