Marjorie Zimmerman

May 9, 1944 — November 15, 2019

Winfield

Marjorie Lee Stauffer Zimmerman was born to Carson and Mary Ann Stauffer on May 9th, 1944 in Port Treverton, Pennsylvania, the youngest of three daughters. She entered into eternal rest while her husband sat by her side on November 15th 2019 at her home in Winfield Pennsylvania, reaching 75 years of age.

In March of 1951 Marge’s parents moved their family to St. Mary’s County, Maryland where she grew to womanhood. On May 27th 1967 she married James E. Zimmerman, in Hollywood Maryland. They experienced the many joys and some sorrows of fifty-two years of marriage. Two young boys, Sheldon and Loren were welcomed to their home, making their family complete.

In the spring of 1975 James and Marge relocated from Maryland to Mifflinburg Pennsylvania where she helped her husband operate a dairy farm. Marge was meticulous in all her life’s duties. She loved animals and enjoyed working in her vegetable garden, doing cross-stitch and sewing. She later also enjoyed Sudoku and jig saw puzzles of which she did many.

In the mid 1990’s they left the dairy farm and purchased a butcher shop. Here Marge filled an integral role, working many hours alongside her husband and sons. In recent years we could see she was showing signs of dementia. As this affliction progressed it increasingly limited her ability to communicate causing her much distress. In the last year or so of her life a reoccurrence of cancer also ultimately contributed to her passing. We are relieved that her suffering is over and rejoice that she is with her Lord and Savior whom she faithfully served and loved.

She is survived by her husband James and two sons, Sheldon Zimmerman and Loren Zimmerman, all of Winfield, PA. Her sister Dorothy and Joe Stauffer of Mount Pleasant Mills, PA, one niece and three nephews. Brothers-in-law Marlin Zimmerman, McEwen, TN, Leon and Bernadette Zimmerman, Leonardtown, MD, Carl and Rosalyn Zimmerman, Middleburg, PA. Sisters-in-law, Irene and Samuel Sensenig, Leonardtown, MD, Ann Zimmerman, Elkhorn, KY, Joyce and Henry Brubacher, Leesburg, OH, Elaine Brubaker, Winfield, PA, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, parents in law, one sister, three brothers-in-law and one sister-in-law.

Family and friends are welcome from 5 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, at the Church of God in Christ, 1875 Mensch Rd., Mifflinburg, where the funeral will be conducted at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, with officiating ministers David Kurtz and Israel Wengerd.
