Mark A. Walsh, 54, Mifflinburg
Mark Anthony Walsh, 54, of Mifflinburg, formerly of Germantown, MD, entered into rest at 10:35 a.m., Thursday, June 18, 2009, at Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg.
He was born May 6, 1955, in Mount Carmel, a son of the late William G. and Helen (Noon) Walsh. On May 4, 1991, in Weirton, West Virginia, he married the former Catherine J. Rice, who survives.
Mark graduated from Our Lady of Lourdes High School, Shamokin, in 1973 and later earned his Bachelors Degree at the University of Maryland.
Mark enlisted in the Air Force in 1974 and retired as Master Sergeant after 20 years of service. He worked mostly in Journalism, writing for the Stars and Stripes while serving in Germany and England. Mark also worked in the Pentagon.
Surviving in addition to his wife Cathy, are two daughters, Veronica E. Walsh, and Colleen M. Walsh, both of Mifflinburg; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Richard and Pervine Walsh of Fredericksburg, MD, and Robert and Mary Lou Walsh of Sunbury; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Rose Harmon of Tijeras, NM, and Elizabeth and Gregory Milanek of Wyomissing; and one sister-in-law, Connie Walsh of Virginia Beach, VA.
He was preceded in death by one brother William Walsh.
Visitors may call from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, at the Roupp Funeral Home, Inc., 8594 Old Turnpike Rd., Mifflinburg, where the funeral will be celebrated at 2 p.m. with Monsignor William Richardson, celebrant.
