Marlin "Bud" Mitchell

Marlin “Bud” W. Mitchell, 76, of Mifflinburg, passed away peacefully at 7:19 p.m., Thursday, May 7, 2020 at Buffalo Valley Nursing Home in Lewisburg, PA where he has resided and battled Parkinson’s Disease.

He was born on April 27, 1944, a son of the late Marlin and Hettie Mitchell.  He was raised in Mifflinburg, PA. On July 27, 1963 he married the former Sina Howell who survives, and they resided in Mifflinburg, PA for their entire life together.

Bud attended Mifflinburg Area High School.  He worked for Stanford Seed Co. for 15 years and then for Bing’s Auto, LLC for 30 years, retiring in 2016.  He was always an active member of the Mifflinburg Hose Company No. 1, being a lifetime member for 55+ years.  He was a very proud 2nd generation MHC Volunteer member, following in his dads’ footsteps, and was a Lieutenant for many years.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children, son Jason and wife Pamela, daughter Reva Dunkle, two granddaughters, Kayla and spouse Colbey Russell, and Leah Dunkle, and one great-granddaughter Emma Kate, all of Mifflinburg; one sister, Anna Roush of Liverpool; and 3 nephews and their wives and children.

Bud was preceded in death by his sister, Agnes Mitchell.

His pride & joy was “his girls”, he loved his granddaughters with all his heart and was always there in an instant when needed.   He was a selfless man always putting others ahead of himself and ready to help wherever needed.  He was a hero to many. If he wasn’t on the scene of a fire or accident with MHC, he was there with a tow truck/rollback with Bing’s cleaning up and rescuing those in need.

A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Mifflinburg Hose Company, 325 Chestnut St, Mifflinburg PA 17844, in Bud’s memory.
