Marlyn S. Brouse, 93, Lewisburg

Marlyn Shannon Brouse, 93, formerly of 62 Belair Dr., for 35 years, entered into rest at 11:05 a.m., Sunday, June 9, 2013, at Elmcroft of Lewisburg, where he had been a resident for the past 4 years.

He was born July 3, 1919, in Mifflinburg, a son of the late Wesley Homer and Caroline May (Shannon) Brouse. On March 1, 1941, in Mifflinburg, he married the former Mildred L. Bennage, who preceded him in death December 24, 2003.

Marlyn was a 1936 graduate of Mifflinburg High School.

He worked on a farm on Furnace Road, Lewisburg, until 1968. Marlyn was then employed at the Bucknell Golf Course, Lewisburg, from 1968 until he retired in 1990.

Marlyn was an active lifetime member of the Dreisbach United Church of Christ, Lewisburg, where he assisted with the building of the church in 1963, and was church treasurer for many years.

He was a member of the Free and Accepted Masons Lodge # 144, Lewisburg.

Surviving are one son, Daniel M. Brouse of New Berlin; one daughter and son-in-law, Carole A. and John Hoover of Harrisburg; two grandchildren, Matthew and his wife Rebecca Hoover of Mercersburg, and Benjamin Hoover of Philadelphia; one great granddaughter, Katie Hoover; and one sister and brother-in-law, Evelyn and Richard Mabus of Lewisburg.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold Brouse and Ken Brouse.

Family and friends are welcome from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., Friday, at the Dreisbach United Church of Christ, 875 Dreisbach Church Rd., Lewisburg, where the funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m., with Rev. Michael C. Romig, officiating.

Burial will be in the Dreisbach Church Cemetery.
