Mary Mertz

MIFFLINBURG – Mary Kathryn Mertz, 83, of 2 Mifflin Court Mifflinburg, formerly of Blakeslee and Milton, entered into rest Saturday, December 31, 2016, at 12:10 a.m. at her home.
She was born January 31, 1933, in Potts Grove, a daughter of the late Earl Starrett and Bernice (Diehl) Beck. On February 16, 1953, she married Harold L. Mertz, who preceded her in death April 18, 2014.
Mary was a 1951 graduate of Milton High School.
She was employed as an Executive Secretary for the Milton Borough. She also worked for Milton Manufacturing and International Paper.
Mary was a member of the Lincoln Chapel United Methodist Church, Laurelton and a former member of the Business Professional Woman’s Club of Milton.
She loved walking, bowling, cooking and playing cards. She also loved the beach, the ocean and warm weather.
Surviving are two sons and daughter-in-law, Dann A. and Donna Mertz of Millmont; Keith A. Mertz of Port St. Lucie, FL; a daughter and son-in-law, Vicki A. and Michael E. Coup of Mifflinburg; 8 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
A memorial service will be conducted Friday at 11:00 a.m. at the Lincoln Chapel United Methodist Church, Laurelton, with Pastor Larry Siikanen officiating.
