Mary Ellen Egli

Mary Ellen Egli, 78, of New Berlin, entered into rest on Sunday, July 14, 2019, at home.

She was born September 23, 1940, in Beaver Springs, the daughter of the late Roy F. and Anna M. (Knouse) Lepley. On August 11, 1957, in New Berlin, she married Jay A. Egli, who survives.

Mary Ellen was a graduate of Mifflinburg High School 1958.

She was employed at Sun Area Technical Institute, where she worked in food service and preparation for 25 years.

Mary Ellen was a member of Emmanuel United Church of Christ, New Berlin, where she served on the consistory, was a member of the choir, and was known as the “Big Cheese” of the kitchen operation.

She served on the New Berlin Election Board, New Berlin Activities Committee, Heritage Association, and past member of the Order of Eastern Star.

Mary Ellen enjoyed flowers, gardening, golfing, bowling, cooking, and spending time with her family and friends.

Surviving in addition to her husband of 62 years, are three sons and two daughters-in-law, Alan R. Egli and partner Karen Yohn of Winfield, Steven J. and Melody Egli of Georgia, and Craig A. and Janice Egli of Mifflinburg; one daughter, Beth Ann Klingensmith and partner David MacArthur of Garnett Valley; one brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Eleanore Lepley of Ohio; eight grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and six step-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one step-grandchild.

Family and friends are welcome to a time of visitation from 10 to 11 a.m., Saturday, at the Emmanuel United Church of Christ, 326 Market St., New Berlin, where the memorial service will be conducted at 11, with Rev. James Cope, officiating. The family requests that attendees dress casual.
