Michael "Mick" R. Zyry, 68, Middleburg
Michael "Mick" Roman Zyry, 68, of 86 Victors Lane, for the past six years, formerly of Millmont, entered into rest at 11:50 a.m., Saturday, January 25, 2014, at his home.
He was born November 6, 1945, in Shamokin, a son of the late Michael C. and Kathryn (Weinhoffer) Zyry. On October 22, 1988, at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Mifflinburg, he married the former Darlene F. Keister, who survives.
Mick was a 1964 graduate of Coal Township High School.
He served in the Air Force from July 8, 1964 until his honorable discharge July 5, 1968.
Mick was a member of the St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Penns Creek, where he assisted with maintenance of the church.
He was employed in maintenance at the Laurelton Center for 33 years.
Mick was past Worshipful Master of the Free & Accepted Masons Lodge #370 , Mifflinburg.
He was a skilled craftsman of woodcarving and a talented marksman in archery and guns. Mick enjoyed time with his dog "Rascal", camping, hunting, helping others, and was devoted to his family.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 25 years, are two daughters and one son-in-law, Ruth Nolan of Danville, and Michelle "Shelly" and Phil Allabaugh of Middleburg; one sister, Barbara A. Zyry of Mifflinburg; one step-son, Mark and his wife Tracy Keister of Middleburg; one step-daughter, Angela "Sis" and her husband Roger Feltman of Richfield;; 8 grandchildren; and 1 great grandson.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Paul Zyry; and one sister, Ruby Louise Zyry.
A memorial service to celebrate the life of Mick, will be conducted at 1 p.m., Saturday, at the St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Penns Creek, with Pastor Robert Klingerman, officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Pennsylvania S.P.C.A., 2801 Bloom Rd., Danville, PA 17821.
Funeral arrangements are by Roupp Funeral Home, Inc., 8594 Old Turnpike Rd., Mifflinburg.
