Miller E. Shoemaker, 100, Mifflinburg

Miller E. Shoemaker, 100, of 797 Conley Rd., and a lifelong resident of Mifflinburg, entered into rest at 7:15 a.m., Thursday, September 5, 2013, at ManorCare, Sunbury, where he had been a resident since 2010.

He was born January 12, 1913, in Mifflinburg, a son of the late Clarence and Mary (Miller) Shoemaker. On April 6, 1940, at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Mifflinburg, he married the former Hazel I. Ruhl, who preceded him in death October 26, 2004.

Miller was a 1931 graduate of Mifflinburg High School.

He was a lifelong member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Mifflinburg.

Miller was a lifelong farmer, and owned and operated his family dairy farm, Sho-Ru Farm, Mifflinburg.

He enjoyed hunting and was a member of the Rapid Run Rod and Gun Club, Mifflinburg. Miller was also a member of the Young Farmers Association and the Registered Holstein Association.

Surviving are three sons and daughters-in-law, Barry W. and Andrea G. Shoemaker, Larry E. and Beverly E. Shoemaker, and Michael D. and Janet M. Shoemaker, all of Mifflinburg; three sisters, Margaret Smith of Lewisburg, Alma Moyer of Lewisburg, and Mary Kathryn Ruhl of Mifflinburg; 8 grandchildren and their spouses, Steven Shoemaker of Millmont, Mark and Tiffany Shoemaker of Mifflinburg, Kristen and Jason Tweed of Northumberland, Jonathan Shoemaker of Danville, Lori and Kevin Heimbach of Winfield, Shawn and Sandra Shoemaker of Mifflinburg, Amy and Neil Moyer of New Berlin, and Tim Shoemaker of Millmont; and 18 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one grandson, Rodney Shoemaker; and three sisters, Carolyn Dale, Lorene Alexander, and Lena Johnson.

Family and friends are welcome from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., Monday, at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 404 Market St., Mifflinburg, where the funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m., with Rev. Peter Bergstresser, officiating.

Burial will be in the Mifflinburg Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 404 Market St., Mifflinburg, PA 17844.

Funeral arrangements are by Roupp Funeral Home, Inc., 8594 Old Turnpike Rd., Mifflinburg.
