Miriam E. Zimmerman, 87, Lewisburg
Miriam Elizabeth Zimmerman, 87, of Lewisburg, formerly of Watsontown, Milton, and Forest Hill, went to join others in her family at 6:40 p.m., Friday, August 13, 2010, at Buffalo Valley Lutheran Village, Lewisburg, where she had been a resident since 2006.
She was born August 12, 1923, in Forest Hill, a daughter of the late Charles and Dora (Ulrich) Wirth. On August 19, 1984, she married Sterling L. Zimmerman. He preceded her in death February 1992.
While growing up in Forest Hill, Miriam attended the Cornelius School and the Forest Hill United Methodist Church.
She was employed at American Home Foods, Milton, for many years until she retired in 1988. Earlier in life, she was employed at the Milton Shoe Company.
Miriam was a member of the Chillesquaque Presbyterian Church, Pottsgrove.
When not working and caring for her family, she enjoyed crocheting and embroidery.
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Gary D. and Debbie Zellers of Southaven, Mississippi, and Stanly L. and Karen Zellers of Lewisburg; one daughter, Yolanda E. Zellers of Northumberland; one sister and brother-in-law, Edna and Mervin Aikey of Forest Hill; 4 grandchildren and their spouses, Mark Zellers and Kate Oggel of Pascoug, Rhode Island, Steve and Natalie Zellers of Chandler, Arizona, Amy and Eric Shrader of Linglestown, and Brian and Trisha Zellers of Linglestown; and 3 great grandchildren, Chase and Alex Shrader, Alexis Zellers, and Kaylee Zellers.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Carlton "Brownie" Wirth; and two sisters, Ernestine Wirth and Nellie Aikey.
Family and friends are welcome from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., Wednesday, at the Roupp Funeral Home, Inc., 8594 Old Turnpike Rd., Mifflinburg where the funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m., with Rev. Theodore Cockley, officiating.
Burial will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery immediately following the funeral service.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to either the Buffalo Valley Lutheran Village, 889 Fairground Rd., Lewisburg, PA 17837, or the Diakon Hospice Saint John (in care of the Buffalo Valley Lutheran Village).
