Myrtle R. Shirk, 90, of 429 Old Orchard Lane, Mifflinburg, since 1958, entered into rest at 6:25 p.m., Tuesday, June 6, 2017, at Rolling Hills Manor, Millmont, where she had been a resident since January.
She was born July 2, 1926, in Hartleton, a daughter of the late John Clair and Laura Elizabeth (Zimmerman) Ruhl. On October 10, 1944, in Laurelton, she married Robert C. Shirk, who preceded her in death in 1985.
Myrtle was a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Mifflinburg.
She was a 1944 graduate of Mifflinburg High School.
Myrtle was employed as a supervisor at the Laurelton Center.
She enjoyed crafts, tatting, making candles, knitting, crocheting, needle point, baking cakes, and traveling.
Surviving are two daughters and one son-in-law, Nancy S. Ulrich of Lewisburg, and Bonnie S. and Edwin Benfer of Selinsgrove;a sister, Mary Jane Ruhl of Alexandria, VA; three grandchildren and their spouses, Cathi and Douglas Shirk of Mifflinburg, Steve and Cara Ulrich of Milton, and Amy and Chris Kline of Middleburg; and four great grandchildren, Jamie Ulrich, Paige Ulrich, Benjamen Kline, and Grace Kline.
She was preceded in death by one grandson, Gregory Benfer; one son-in-law, Marvin C. Ulrich.
A memorial service to celebrate the life of Myrtle will be conducted at 3 p.m., Sunday, June 25th, at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 404 Market St., Mifflinburg, with Rev. John Yost, officiating.
Interment will be conducted privately at the Hartleton Cemetery.
