Oscar L. Maust, 81, of Millmont, went home to be with his Lord at 2:31 a.m., Sunday, October 22, 2017, at his residence after being in the loving care of his family for two years following multiple strokes.

He was born December 17, 1935, in Grantsville, Maryland, a son of the late Elmer and Rhoda (Miller) Maust.  On April 6, 1957, he married the love of his life, Ella Mae (Musser), who survives.  They had 60 wonderful years together.

Oscar attended Yoder’s School and Grantsville Elementary.

He was an active member of Hartleton Mennonite Church, where he often taught Sunday School and helped wherever he could.

Oscar was owner and operator of Oscar L. Maust Plumbing and Electrical, Millmont, and Twin Pine Shoe Repair, Millmont.  Earlier in life he worked at Weaver’s Poultry, New Holland, where he met his wife, and at Edgar Martin Electrical, Ephrata.

In addition to his wife of 60 years, are ten children and their spouses, Kenneth Maust of Miami, Florida, Rebecca Maust of Millmont, Rita and Glenn Kuhns of Millmont, Donna Maust of Millmont, Rhoda and Amos Oberholtzer of Stevens, Elmer and Genevieve Maust of Beavertown, Linda and Dwight Stauffer of Mount Pleasant Mills, James and Elizabeth Maust of Watsontown, Ruby Maust of Millmont, and Anna Maust of Millmont; seven grandchildren, Jeffrey Oberholtzer and his wife Devon, Diane Oberholtzer, Amanda Oberholtzer, Ryan Stauffer and his wife Tiffany, Nicole Maust, Dakota Stauffer, and Elijah Maust; one great grandson, Jaxson Oberholtzer and one great grandchild baby Stauffer expected in March; siblings, Louise Maust, Leona Maust, Norma and her husband William Stewart, Arthur and his wife Pat Maust, Kathryn and her husband Mark Beals; and one sister-in-law, Rosie Maust.

He was preceded in death by two sons, John Paul in infancy, and David Lewis Maust; and one brother, Edgar Maust.

The Maust family thanks the wonderful caregivers he had in his home, Geisinger Hospice, and Evangelical Hospice.

Family and friends are invited to the viewing from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, at the Hartleton Mennonite Church, 418 Laurel Road, Millmont, where the funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m., Thursday, with Hartleton Mennonite Church Ministry, officiating.

Burial will be in the Hartleton Mennonite Church Cemetery.
