P. Dale Boop, 81, Mifflinburg
P. Dale Boop, 81, of 85 Walnut St., since 1969, entered into rest at 8:40 p.m., Friday, October 25, 2013, at his home.
He was born December 10, 1931, in Mifflinburg, a son of the late Paul E. and Laura M. (Katherman) Boop. On December 18, 1968, at the Mifflinburg United Methodist Church, he married the former Susan M. Wetzel, who survives.
Dale was a 1950 graduate of Mifflinburg High School.
He was a member of the Mifflinburg United Methodist Church.
Dale served in the army from October 1, 1952 until his honorable discharge August 6, 1954.
He worked with his father at Boop's Plumbing, Mifflinburg. He was also employed as a police officer for the Borough of Mifflinburg, served as deputy sheriff for Union County, and was a correctional officer for Union County Jail, until he retired in 1992.
Dale was a member of the Mifflinburg V.F.W. Post 1964, Mifflinburg American Legion Post 410, and a member of the Pardee Hunting Gang.
Surviving in addition to his wife of nearly 45 years, are two sons, Douglas R. Boop of Mechanicsburg, and Michael E. Boop of Mifflinburg; two daughters and one son-in-law, Kristi S. Diehl of Southern Pines, NC, and Juli A. and Jim Unger of Mifflinburg; 9 grandchildren, Aaron and Shane Boop, Stacy and Terri Boop, Logan and Landen Diehl, and Taylor, Morgan, and Ryder Unger; 2 great grandchildren, Roman and Reece Boop; one neice, Donna Brobst; and two nephews, Craig Boop and Roy Voneida.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Gene Boop; one sister, Marie Voneida; and one nephew, Gary Voneida.
A memorial service to celebrate the life of Dale will be conducted Tuesday, at 11 a.m., at the Roupp Funeral Home, Inc., 8594 Old Turnpike Rd., Mifflinburg, with Rev. Elizabeth Taylor, officiating.
Interment will be in the Lincoln Chapel Cemetery.
