Ralph B. Fluharty, 86, Mifflinburg
Ralph "Nick" Bartlett Fluharty, 86, of 408 Buggy Lane, since 1993, formerly of Boonton, New Jersey for 53 years, entered into rest at 6:20 p.m., Thursday, August 6, 2009, at Buffalo Valley Lutheran Village, Lewisburg.
He was born September 10, 1922, in Easton, Maryland, a son of the late George W. Sr. and Florence (Trax) Fluharty. On October 7, 1945, in the Boonton United Methodist Church, he married the former Phyllis M. Klinger, who survives.
Ralph was a 1939 graduate of Easton High School.
He was most recently a member of the Mifflinburg United Methodist Church. Before moving to Mifflinburg, he was a member of the Boonton United Methodist Church, where he was an usher, active in various committees, and a member of the men's club.
Ralph was employed as a safety inspector by the State of New Jersey from 1965 until his retirement in 1990. Ralph was a self-employed carpenter and also worked for various general contractors.
He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, fishing, and hunting in his younger years. He was known for cooking the turkey for his family every Thanksgiving. Ralph especially enjoyed spending time with his grandson, Ryan.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 63 years, are two sons and daughters-in-law, Ralph E. and Dorothy J. "Jeannie" Fluharty, and Richard W. and Brenda Fluharty, all of Mifflinburg; one grandson, Ryan M. Fluharty of Mifflinburg; one brother, Holton T. Fluharty of Easton, MD; and 3 generations of nieces of nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, John Trax, and George W. "Billy" Fluharty, Jr.; three sisters, Laura Francis Carmine, Betty Fluharty, and Lillian Eurith Harper; two half-brothers, Raymond and William Fluharty; and one half-sister, Helen Fluharty.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2:30 p.m., Monday, August 10, 2009, at the Greenwood Cemetery, Washington Street, Boonton, with Rev. Debra Whitten, officiating.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m., Saturday, August 29, 2009, at the Mifflinburg United Methodist Church, 279 Market St., with Rev. Ronald Warfle and Rev. Johnny Blake, officiating.
Funeral arrangements are by Roupp Funeral Home, Inc., 8594 Old Turnpike Rd., Mifflinburg.
