Ray F. Yerger, 83, Lewisburg
Ray Franklin Yerger, 83, of 255 Aikey Hill Rd., and a lifelong resident of Buffalo Township, entered into rest at 8:30 p.m., Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at his home.
He was born June 4, 1929, in Buffalo Township, a son of the late Harvey W. and Sadie M. (Reichenbach) Yerger. On January 2, 1952, in West Milton, he married the former Rebecca I. Sheesley, who preceded him in death March 1, 2001.
Ray was a 1947 graduate of Lewisburg High School.
He was a member of the Mazeppa Union Church since 1946, where he served on the church council earlier in life.
Ray owned and operated his family farm in Buffalo Township, and was also employed at H & C Grove Feed Mill, Lewisburg, from 1988 to 1997.
He was a member of the Dairylea, Inc. and Agway, Inc. Ray enjoyed baking pies and riding his tractor to cut the grass. He especially enjoyed gardening and was very proud of his stoneless and weedless garden.
Surviving are two daughters, Ruth I. Sanders of Lewisburg, and Sarah E. Yerger of Milton; two grandchildren, Holly I. Sanders, and Daniel J. Sanders, both of Lewisburg; a brother-in-law, Paul Sheesley of Lewisburg; and two sisters-in-law, Mary Geiser of Lewisburg, and Helen Wirth of Hartleton.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Clair W. Yerger, and Miles E. Yerger; and one sister, Edna Marie Feese.
Family and friends are welcome from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., Monday, at the Roupp Funeral Home, Inc., 8594 Old Turnpike Rd., Mifflinburg, where the funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m., with Pastor Fred Yarger, officiating.
Burial will be in the Mazeppa Union Cemetery.
