Richard D. Roat, 72, Winfield
Richard D. "Buck" Roat, 72, a resident of Winfield, passed away at 2:35 a.m., Saturday, September 1, 2012, at his home surrounded by family.
Buck was born on November 27, 1939, in Lewisburg, a son of the late Leroy and Edna (Rearick) Roat; he was the youngest of seven children. Buck was a 1958 graduate of Lewisburg High School.
On September 14, 1958 he married the former Judy A. Roush of Winfield. His passing breaks a loving marriage of 54 years.
In 1958, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. Buck honorably served his country as a radar man stationed on the USS Fidelity (a mine sweeper) based in Charleston, South Carolina.
For 44 years he was an industrial pump and motor salesman for W.M. Wagner Sales/Ram Industrial Services of Winfield.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing in Potter County, PA as well as vacationing with his family at Ocean City, New Jersey and Meddybemps, Maine. He was loving father and enjoyed spending time with his family.
Buck is survived by his wife, Judy Roush Roat, two sons, Vincent Roat of Port Trevorton, Randall Roat of Winfield and a daughter and a son-in-law Kelly and David Anderson of Winfield and a family friend Randy Kratzer of Port Trevorton also five grandchildren, Kristy and husband Justin Kline, Chase, Elias, Emily and Grace Roat. Buck is also survived by three sisters, Jean Katherman of Mifflinburg, Verna Eisenhuth of Mifflinburg and Marg Kline of Lewisburg.
In addition to his parents, Buck was preceded in death by his brother Robert (Bob) Roat and sisters Edith Muffly and Dorthy Spaid.
His wishes are that he be remembered as he was before, a caring and loving person.
In lieu of flowers contributions in Buck's memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1420 N Susquehanna Trail, Selinsgrove, PA 17870.
As he requested, funeral arrangements will be held at family's convenience.
