Richard "Dick" C. Shaffer, 82, New Berlin

Richard "Dick" Charles Shaffer, 82, of 625 Plum St., since 1980, entered into rest at 9:08 a.m., Friday, October 25, 2013, at Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg.

He was born October 20, 1931, in Shamokin Dam, a son of the late Ernest H. and H. Mae (Gill) Shaffer. On March 7, 1959, in Middleburg, he married the former Meriam "Mim" A. Benfer, who preceded him in death April 4, 1991.

Dick was a 1950 graduate of Lewisburg High School.

He served in the Army from October 1, 1952 until his honorable discharge September 30, 1954.

Dick was employed at Zenith, Watsontown, for 30 years, and most recently worked in maintenance at SUN Tech, New Berlin.

He was a charter member of the Union Township Fire Company, Winfield, a volunteer at New Berlin Fire Company, and a life member of the Winklebleck Dam Rod and Gun Club.

Surviving are three sons and daughters-in-law, Richard C. Shaffer, Jr. and Anne Starr of Selinsgrove, Jeffrey L. and Gladie Shaffer of Northumberland, and Timothy S. and Jennifer Shaffer of New Berlin; one brother, Carl L. Shaffer of Lewisburg; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Hazel M. Anderson, and Jane K. and Jim Courter, all of Lewisburg; five grandchildren, Lorelei and her husband John Fuller of California, Amanda and her husband John Deivert of Sunbury, Amber Shaffer of Northumberland, Max Shaffer of New Berlin, and Ally Shaffer of New Berlin; and four great grandchildren, Trent Fuller, Tiberius Fuller, Emma Fuller, and Derick Bollinger.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Ernest "Bud" H. Shaffer, Jr.

Family and friends are welcome from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., Monday, at the Roupp Funeral Home, Inc., 8594 Old Turnpike Rd., Mifflinburg, where the funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m., with Rev. Ricky Phillips, officiating.

Burial will be in the New Berlin Cemetery.
