Rev. Richard M. “Dick” “Smiley” VonNeida, 90, of 2065 Pleasant Grove Rd., Mifflinburg, went home to be with his Lord and Savior at 8:25 a.m., Friday, February 28, 2025, at home.
He was born April 22, 1934, in Hartleton, a son of the late Charles S., Sr. and Mae Leona (Bingaman) VonNeida. On January 22, 2011, he married the former Linda J. Althof, who survives.
Dick was a 1952 graduate of Mifflinburg High School, where he played baseball, and how he got his nickname “Smiley”.
He was employed at Faylor Middlecreek, Winfield, and Pennsylvania Department of Transportation for many years, until he retired.
Dick was a Pastor for over 50 years, including at the Church of the Open Door, Evendale, New Hope Bible Church, Mifflinburg, and the Christ Community Church of Glen Iron.
He was a member of the United Missions Evangelistic Association.
Dick enjoyed playing golf, hunting, fishing, going to his cabin, and spending time with his family. He was selfless, humble, and always willing to help those in need and never asked for anything in return.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 14 years, are two sons and daughters-in-law, Tony VonNeida of Maryland, and John and Angel VonNeida of Millmont; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and Glenn Trutt of Mifflinburg, and Tina and Barry Boney of Mifflinburg; adopted grandson, Jason VonNeida and his wife Jill of Middleburg; 8 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Myrtle I. (Englehart) VonNeida; four brothers, Earl, John, Harry, Junior VonNeida; and two sisters, Helen Susan and Marguerite Wilt.
Family and friends are welcome to a time of visitation from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Thursday, March 6, at the Christ Community Church of Glen Iron, 2746 State Route 235, where the memorial service will be conducted at 1, with Pastor Brent Susan, and Rev. Jason VonNeida, officiating.
Burial will be in the Hartleton Cemetery where military honors will be accorded by American Legion Post 410 and VFW Post 1964, both of Mifflinburg.
Memorial gifts may be made to Christ Community Church of Glen Iron, 2746 State Route 235, Millmont, PA 17845.
