Robert L. Delsite, 64, Millmont
Robert Leroy Delsite, 64, of 128 Lumbermill Ln., for the past 14 years, formerly of Milton, entered into rest at 2:40 p.m., Friday, March 7, 2014, at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born May 11, 1949, in Danville, a son of the late William "Bump" and Myrtle (Hess) Delsite. On April 3, 1965, in West Milton, he married the love of his life Lavone L. Zimmerman, who survives him.
He was employed as a crane operator at Milton Manufacturing /North Star Steel for over 30 years. Earlier in life Robert also worked for ABS.
Bob drove ambulance and was a member of the Milton Fire Company for numerous years. Bob in his later years was active in volunteering at the West End Fire Company functions.
Bob's friends knew him as "Blacktop Bob", "Bobcat", and "Pickachoo". He enjoyed hunting, and spending time at the hunting cabin with family and close friends including Rollin Kline and Barry Knarr. Bob also enjoyed NASCAR racing, raising animals, butchering, camping, fishing, boating on the lake and spending time with his family.
Surviving in additioin to his wife of nearly 49 years, are two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert, Jr. and Julie Delsite of Millmont, and William and Pepper Delsite of McClure; two daughters and sons-in-law, Denise and Terry Smith of Millmont, and Darla and Steven Connolly of Hartleton; 17 grandchildren and their spouses, Jeffrey and Ashley Delsite of Millmont, Terry, Jr. and Kathleen Smith of Millmont, Trista and Brent Hackenberg of Freeburg, Kayla Smith of Millmont, Bethany and Brad Oldt of Waterville, Tamra Connolly and Jake Kerstetter of Millmont, Kassi Connolly of Hartleton, Grace Connolly of Hartleton, Tearany Delsite of Middleburg, Austin, KayLynn, Mackenzie, Aaliyah, Matthew, and Joshua Delsite, all of Millmont, and Madison, and Xander Delsite, both of McClure; 4 great grandchildren, and expecting 2 great grandchildren; two brothers and sisters-in-law, William and Vicki Delsite of Milton, and Don and Rose Delsite of Milton; four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Barbara Koch of South Williamsport, Nancy Sassamen of Elimsport, Wanda and Lou Cox of Muncy, and Dorothy and David Heimbach of Mifflinburg, and 3 sisters-in-law, Bonnie Fultz of Beaver Springs, Shirley Bingaman of Milton, and Pauline Bingaman of New Columbia as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one sister and 3 brothers-in-law, Shirley and Charles Knarr, Donald G. Fultz Sr., John Bingaman, and Marlin Bingaman.
A special thank you for the love and support goes to his niece Cindy Lewis.
A celebration of Bob's life will be conducted at 2 p.m., Saturday, at the New Hope Bible Church, 390 Mulberry St., Mifflinburg, with Rev. Henry Dorman, officiating. We invite family and friends for a time of fellowship and remembrance with refreshments at follow at the fellowship hall. The Delsite family asks for all who plan to attend to please bring a dish to share.
