Robert Drake

Robert O. Drake, 82, of Mifflinburg, entered into rest at 2:06 p.m., Thursday, February 10, 2022, at home.

He was born May 21, 1939, in Somerville, New Jersey, a son of the late J. Orion and Bertha S. (Hill) Drake. On August 26, 1967, he married the former Barbara J. Errickson, who survives.

Bob grew up on his parent’s farm in Ringoes, New Jersey, and attended Flemington High School.

While in New Jersey, he was an active member of the Amwell Valley Fire Company in Ringoes, for 30 years, where he was the former chief. Bob was a life member of the NJ State Firemen’s Association, an East Amwell Township Fire Commissioner for 12 years, and an East Amwell Township Environmental Commissioner for 6 years. He was employed at East Amwell Road Department, and a South Hunterdon High School bus driver.

In 1988, he purchased a farm in Mazeppa, Pennsylvania, and he and his family moved to continue farm life until his retirement in 2003, when his son, Henry, continued the business.  Bob assisted and escorted the Christian Mennonite community around until his passing.

Surviving in addition to his wife of 54 years, is one daughter Donna Drake of Mifflinburg; one son and daughter-in-law, Henry and Andrea Drake of Lebanon; four grandchildren, Joseph Mundrick, Emma Drake, Hannah Drake, and Cole Drake; two great-grandchildren, Mia and Avery Mundrick; and one sister, Gloria Weiman.

Family and friends are welcome from 10 to 11 a.m., Saturday, February 19, at Roupp Funeral Home, Inc., 8594 Old Turnpike Rd., Mifflinburg, where the funeral will be conducted at 11, with Pastor Don Hewlett, officiating.

Burial will be in Mazeppa Union Cemetery.
