Robert H. Gharret, 81, Mifflinburg
Robert Harvey Gharret, 81, of 96 Fisher Circle, for the past 10 years, entered into rest at 11:20 a.m., Sunday, September 7, 2014, surrounded by his loved ones singing him home with his favorite hymn, "In the Garden", at Watsontown Health and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born February 4, 1933, in Rand, a son of the late Paul H. and Ida Mae (Jordan) Gharret. On November 11, 1978, in Mifflinburg, he married the former Phyllis A. Lilley, who survives.
Robert was a member of the St. John's United Church of Christ, Mifflinburg.
He was a 1951 graduate of Mifflinburg High School.
Robert was employed at American Home Foods, Milton, for 39 years, until he retired in 1995.
He was a member of the Mifflinburg Free & Accepted Masonic Lodge 370, Williamsport Consistory, Irem Temple, Wilkes Barre, Royal Arcanum, Harrisburg, Buffalo Valley Sportsmen's Club, Mifflinburg, and the Union County Sportsmen's Club, Weikert.
Robert enjoyed collecting trains, coins, Indian artifacts, and antiques. He also enjoyed gardening, flowers, quilting, and social time with his neighbors and friends.
Surviving in addition to his wife of nearly 36 years, are one son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Lisa Showers of Lewisburg; one daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Robert Snyder, Jr. of Milton; 7 grandchildren, Nathan Pfleegor, Jason Pfleegor, Nicole Snyder, Jennifer Kremer, Robert Snyder, III, Robert Showers, Jr., and Susan Rishel; and 17 great grandchildren.
Family and friends are welcome to a time of visitation from 10 to 11 a.m., Saturday, at the Cornerstone Christian Fellowship, 205 Bull Run Crossing, Lewisburg, where a memorial service to celebrate the life of Robert will be conducted at 11 a.m., with Pastor Doug Diven, officiating.
Burial will be in the Hartleton Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Parkinson's Disease Foundation, 1359 Broadway, Suite 1509, New York, NY 10018, or the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, 34th street and Civic Center Boulevard, Philadelphia, PA 19104.
