Robert "Bob" E. Klingman, 87, Mifflinburg
Robert "Bob" Eugene Klingman, 87, of 93 Laney St., since 1986, entered into rest at 4:30 a.m., Saturday, December 21, 2013, at Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg.
He was born July 5, 1926, in Mifflinburg, a son of the late Charles Luther and Anna Mary (Doebler) Klingman. On September 11, 1950, in East Prospect, he married the former Anna Mae Wehr, who preceded him in death February 1, 2011.
Bob was a 1944 graduate of Mifflinburg High School and a 1951 graduate of West Virginia University School of Forestry.
He was a veteran of World War II and served in the Navy from July 1944 until his honorable discharge in June 1946.
Bob was employed as the Assistant Director of Bureau of State Parks for the State Department of Forest and Waters Department of Environmental Resources until he retired in 1986. A Raymond B. Winter State Park Office Building was named in honor of Bob's dedication to his work with the bureau.
He was a member of the St. John's United Church of Christ, Mifflinburg, where he served on the church council and various committees.
Bob was a member of the and the Free and Accepted Masons Lodge and Charity Lodge #144, Lewisburg,, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rites, Williamsport, Susquehanna Valley Amateur Radio Club, Buffalo Valley Sportsmen's Club, Mifflinburg, Union County Sportsmen's Club, Weikert, and the Black Gap Hunting Camp, Mifflinburg.
He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and camping.
Surviving are nieces and nephews, Jean and Dick Kay of California, Joyce and Dick Beck, Peggy and Garvis Kron, Donna Williams, and Bill and Paula Wehr, all of Lewisburg, Judy McCarty of Muncy, Richard Beaver of Corning, NY, C. Gordon Klingman of Mifflinburg, james and Carol Reeser of Lock Haven, Charles and Vicki Reeser of Kingsport, Tenn., Patricia and Harold Steidler of York, David Schnure of Mifflinburg, John and Linda Schnure of Mifflinburg, Candy Schnure of Chicago, Bradley Gotshall of Mifflinburg, William Keiser of Lancaster, Daniel Keiser of Milton, Molly and Kenneth McCullion of Kreamer, and Edward Reaser of Whittier, Calif.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, William and Gordon Klingman; and six sisters, Edythe Klingman Johnson, Pauline Sayers, Eleanor Reeser, June Schnure, Hilda Keiser, and Greta Reaser.
There will be no public viewing. The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m., Tuesday, at the Roupp Funeral Home, Inc., 8594 Old Turnpike Rd., Mifflinburg, with Rev. Susan Gabbard, officiating.
Burial will be in the Mifflinburg Cemetery, with military honors by the Mifflinburg American Legion Post 410 and area veterans.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the St. John's United Church of Christ, Organ Fund, 417 Market St., Mifflinburg.
