Robert F. Knorr, 92, Mifflinburg

Robert "Bob" F. Knorr, 92, of 901 Market St., for the past 50 years, entered into rest at 4:27 p.m., Wednesday, August 27, 2014, at Nottingham Village Nursing Center, Northumberland, where he had been a resident since June.

He was born September 23, 1921, in Danville, a son of the late Edward A. and Josephine (Walters) Knorr. He was married to the former Lottie D. Bilger, who preceded him in death in 1998.

Bob served as a medical technician in the Army from 1943 until his honorable discharge in 1946, with the 91st Infantry Division, in Africa and Italy. He was decorated with a purple heart, good conduct medal, EAME service medal with 2 bronze stars, and a victory medal.

He was a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Mifflinburg.

Bob retired from the Danville State Hospital after 36 years of service. He was the Laundry Manager from 1952 until 1978.

He was a member of the Bloomsburg V.F.W. Post 804, Danville American Legion Post 40, Free & Accepted Masons Lodge 224, Danville, Knights Templar, Danville, and a 50 year member of the Irem Shriners.

Surviving are four grandchildren, Kelly Beaver of Shamokin Dam, Jeff Brown of North Brunswick, New Jersey, Melissa Shipman of Milton, and Kim Halloran of California; and four great grandchildren, Chelsey and Dylan Beaver, and Miles and Spencer Halloran.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by one step-son, Carl W. Brown; and one step-daughter, Ruth Brown.

There will be no public viewing. Family and friends are welcome to a time of visitation from 10 to 11 a.m., Saturday, at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 404 Market St., Mifflinburg, where the funeral will be conducted at 11, with Rev. Peter Bergstresser, officiating.

Burial will be in the Lincoln Chapel Cemetery, with full military honors by the Mifflinburg American Legion Post 410 and area veterans.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 404 Market St., Mifflinburg, PA 17844.

Bob's grandchildren extend a thank you to many guardian angels who were in his life over the past several years, including Mary Alice, Connie and family, Erma and family, Joe and Holly, Jim, his caregivers at Nottingham Village, and all his friends at the Carriage Corner Restaurant in Mifflinburg.
