Robert A. Walter, 95, Mifflinburg

Robert Alvin Walter, 95, of 7 E. Market St., for the past 51 years, entered into rest at 4:15 a.m., Sunday, June 3, 2012, at Buffalo Valley Lutheran Village, Lewisburg.

He was born July 26, 1916, in Mifflinburg, a son of the late Lewis E. and Blanche (Irwin) Walter. On April 6, 1957, at the Dreisbach United Church of Christ, Lewisburg, he married the former Wanda M. Manbeck, who survives.

Robert was a 1934 graduate of Mifflinburg High School.

He was a lifelong member of the First Presbyterian Church, Mifflinburg.

Robert was employed at Philco Ford, and later Zenith, for 35 years, until he retired in 1982.

He enjoyed model trains, traveling, camping, gardening, and assembling model cars, doll houses, and jigsaw puzzles. Robert was a talented photographer and never left home without his camera.

Surviving in addition to his wife of 55 years, are one son, Terry Walter of Middleburg; one daughter and son-in-law, Darlene and Russ Yoder of Mifflinburg; 7 grandchildren and their spouses, Terry W. Walter of Mifflinburg, Jeremy and Marcy Yoder, Joshua and Tricia Yoder, and Jennifer and Kurt Smith, all of Middleburg, Jonathan and Heather Yoder, Jared Yoder, and Jaden Yoder, all of Mifflinburg; and 11 great grandchildren, Cheyenne and Gauge Gavason, Cordell, Ava, and Leah Yoder, Keegan Yoder, Lucas Yoder, Daisy and Sierra Smith, Randy Rathfon, and Emily Yoder.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Holmes E. Walter; one sister, Bernice I. Walter; 1 great grandson, Cruz B. Walter; and one infant grandson.

Family and friends are welcome from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., Friday, at the Roupp Funeral Home, Inc., 8594 Old Turnpike Rd., Mifflinburg, where the funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m., with Pastor John Rakow, officiating.

Burial will be in the Mifflinburg Cemetery.
