Rosella Hoffman

Rosella “Dolly” Swartzlander Hoffman, 86, of Mifflinburg, was welcomed into the arms of Jesus at 1:47 a.m., Thursday, February 6, 2020, at Nottingham Village.

She was born May 17, 1933 in Union County, a daughter of the late Charles and Helen (Boob) Swartzlander. On July 19, 1952, she married Ernest Hoffman, who preceded her in death on November 19, 2012.

Rosella was a 1952 graduate of Mifflinburg High School.

She was employed at Huntington Throwing Mills, Feece’s Restaurant, and Hillside Christian Academy, all of Mifflinburg.

Rosella was a member of Hillside Bible Church for many years, where she taught Sunday School, Bible School, and sang in the choir and ladies’ trio. She was known for her beautiful voice.

She always welcomed people into her home and offered food and lots of coffee. Her Bible was always open on her table to spread the Word to all that entered. Rosella always wanted to make sure everyone was saved and ready for heaven.

Surviving are one son, David Hoffman (Joann Mahoney) of Mifflinburg; two daughters and sons-in-law, Carole and Dennis Keefer of Lewisburg, and Barbara and Wayne Resseguie of New Berlin; seven grandchildren and their spouses, Jen and Tim Shaffer, Liz and Kurt Aurand, Phil and Heather Resseguie, Brandon and Lindsay Resseguie, Beth and Ben Eshelman, Matthew and Ang Keefer, and Amber and Mike Van Sickle; 19 great-grandchildren; one sister and brother-in-law, Renee and Jason Sherwood; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Harold and Shirley Swartzlander, and Bobby Swartzlander; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Katherine Benelisha and Eleanor Smith; and four brothers, Donald, Neil, Gary, and Charlie “Butch” Swartzlander.

Family and friends are welcome from 10 to 11 a.m., Monday, at Hillside Bible Church, 1650 Centennial Rd., Mifflinburg, where the funeral will be conducted at 11, with Pastor Matthew Abberger, officiating.

Burial will be in Hillside Church Cemetery.

The family would like to thank the staff at Nottingham Village for the extra care and love they showed Rosella.
