Ruth E. Gardner, 88, of Milton, entered into rest at 9:40 a.m., Saturday, January 18, 2020, at Rockwell Retirement Center, Milton, where she has been a resident since 2012.
She was born October 6, 1931, in Shamokin Dam, a daughter of the late Walter Reese and Gladys Pauline (Musick) Spickler. On July 15, 1972, she married Orrie Sherwood Gardner, who proceeded her in death in 2002.
Ruth was a 1949 graduate of Mifflinburg High School.
She was a homemaker and also was employed at the Ben Franklin Store, Mifflinburg.
Surviving are three grandchildren, Dawn M. Dye of Monument, New Mexico, Thom Chorpenning of St. Joseph, Missouri, and Cory Chorpenning of Dallas, Texas; three great-grandchildren, Chantell Thompson, Chance Dye, and Kaylee Chorpenning; and six great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Dolores Ann Dickey-Diehl; one brother, Francis E. Spickler; and two sisters, Catherine Rowe and Marian L. Ferreira.
A graveside service will be conducted at noon, Wednesday, at the New Berlin Cemetery.
Arrangements are by Roupp Funeral Home, Inc., 8594 Old Turnpike Rd., Mifflinburg.
