Samuel B. Weaver, 90, Lewisburg

Samuel Banks Weaver, 90, formerly of 1272 Johnson Mill Rd., for 26 years, peacefully went home to be with his Lord at 6:45 a.m., Thursday, January 26, 2012, at Riverwoods, where he had been a resident since December 1st.

He was born August 5, 1921, in Mifflintown, a son of the late Banks and Anna Weaver. On October 12, 1946, in Richfield, he married the former Nora A. Kauffman, who survives.

Sam was an active member of the Buffalo Mennonite Church, Lewisburg, since 1949, where he taught Sunday School and Bible School.

During World War II, he served in a Civilian Public Service Camp in Virginia.

Sam was employed at the Lewisburg Ice House, for 38 years. Earlier in life, he owned and operated a farm in Mifflinburg.

Surviving in addition to his wife of 65 years, are one son and daughter-in-law, Melvin S. and Rebecca Weaver of Ulster; five daughters and four sons-in-law, Kathryn A. and Kenneth Groff of Charm, OH, Marie E. Weaver of Lewisburg, Ruth E. and Wilbur Aikey of Missouri, Anna Mae and Terry Freeman of Bolivar, NY, and Dolores F. and Melvin Boss of Brownsville, OR; one brother, Daniel Weaver of Port Trevorton; one sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Elvin Graybill of Richland; 20 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son, Alvin Chester Weaver on September 24, 1966; two brothers, John Weaver, and David Weaver; and three sisters, Anna Graybill, Mary Weaver, and Elizabeth Weaver.

Family and friends are welcome from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Sunday, and 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., Monday, at the Buffalo Mennonite Church, 4445 Hoffa Mill Rd., Lewisburg, where the funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m., with Deacon Al Longenecker, Minister David Peachey, and Minister Matthew Funk, officiating.

Burial will be in the Buffalo Mennonite Church Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements are by Roupp Funeral Home, Inc., 8594 Old Turnpike Rd., Mifflinburg.
