Sharon I. Chappell, 61, Mifflinburg
Sharon Irene Chappell, 61, of 1670 Turkey Run Rd., entered into rest at 2:50 p.m., Tuesday, July 20, 2010, at her home.
She was born November 27, 1948, in Sunbury, a daughter of the late George O. and Estelle L. (Hill) Derr. On June 27, 1964, in Sunbury, she married Clyde A. Chappell, who survives.
Sharon was a member of the Dreisbach United Church of Christ, Lewisburg, where she enjoyed assisting with the church rummage sales.
She enjoyed spending time with her family, and preparing for family gatherings. For family Thanksgivings, she would bake over 30 pies.
Sharon sponsored the girl scouts, 4-H group, FFA, little league baseball, the Mifflinburg High School Band and other school programs. She was a blood donor for the American Red Cross for many years. She is loved by many, and will be greatly missed.
Surviving in addition to her husband of 46 years, are four sons and three daughters-in-law, Clyde A., II and Donna Chappell, Tyson B. and Karen Chappell, Brandon M. and Angie Chappell, and Ashley B. Chappell, all of Mifflinburg; two daughters and sons-in-law, Jacqueline A. and Mark Blanchard of Watsontown, and Marchella I. and William Geiswite, II, of New Columbia; one brother, Roger Derr of Florida; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Darlene and Claude Going of Florida, and Georgene and Dennis Vanatta of Mifflinburg; 10 grandchildren; and 1 great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Ralph, Bill, and Chester Derr; and one sister, Margaret Reid.
Family and friends are welcome from 11 a.m. to noon, Friday, at the Dreisbach United Church of Christ, 875 Dreisbach Church Rd., Lewisburg, where the funeral will be conducted at noon, with Rev. Michael C. Romig and Rev. James H. Gold, officiating.
Burial will be in the New Berlin Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Evangelical Hospice, 1 Hospital Dr., Lewisburg, PA 17837.
