Shirley Catherman

Shirley Esther Catherman, 89, of Ridgecrest, Lewisburg, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, January 11, 2021, at Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg.

She was born May 13, 1931, a daughter of the late Francis and Grace (Kleckner) Keister.

Shirley graduated from Mifflinburg Area High School in 1948.

During Shirley’s life, she worked various jobs including in the cafeteria at SUN Area Technical School, New Berlin, and as a seamstress for Evangelical Community Hospital.

Shirley was a member of the Buffalo Valley Church of the Brethren, Mifflinburg.

She enjoyed crafts and sewing.

Shirley is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law, Linda Wagner of Beavertown, and Joanne and Dennis Sauers of Mifflinburg; two sons and daughters-in-law, Joseph and Gaye Richard of Millmont, and Steven and Fay Richard of Mifflinburg; eight grandchildren and their spouses, Tim and Marsha Wagner, Tammy and Brad Brought, Michael and Christy Sauers, Jason and Erin Sauers, Erin and Tom Paternostro, Kristy Richard, Tonya and Jesse Aigler, Andrew and Elaina Richard, and Douglas and Morgan Richard; one sister, Mary Jane Benner of Mifflinburg; sisters-in-law, Rachel Keister of Lewisburg, and Sylvia Keister of Ohio; 14 great grandchildren; one great-great grandson.

She is also survived by step-children (her late husband Robert’s children), Robert Jr. and his wife Mary Catherman, Garry and his wife Patricia Catherman, and Rose and Melvin Johnson, and their children, and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one son-in-law, Jeremiah Wagner; grandson, Joshua Richard; her three husbands, Joseph Richard, Leroy Napp, and Robert Catherman; three brothers Myron, Stanley, and Fred Keister; and two sisters Kathryn Gearhart and Virginia Wagner.

A private graveside service will be conducted at the convenience of the family at the Old Cedars Cemetery, Swengel.

The family thanks Riverwoods, Evangelical Hospital, and special friend, Angie Russo, for their quality care of our Mother during these challenging times. Praise God for wonderful caregivers.
