Shirley Jean Heddings, 78, of 110 Shipton St., for 3 years, formerly of Milton, entered into rest at 6:55 p.m., Wednesday, August 6, 2014, at the Manor at Penn Village, Selinsgrove, where she had been a resident since March.
She was born March 7, 1936, in Lewisburg, a daughter of the late Murray and Lucille (Weller) Rohland. She was married to John A. Dershimer, who preceded her in death in 1965. In 1967, she married Ralph D. Heddings, who preceded her in death in 1997.
Shirley was a 1954 graduate of Lewisburg High School.
She was employed as a cook and waitress at J.J. Newberry, Lewisburg, and then worked at C.S.I.U., Lewisburg, until she retired in 2002.
Shirley enjoyed flowers, gardening, and spending time with her grandchildren.
Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, David W. and Samantha K. Heddings, of Mifflinburg; one daughter, Cynthia J. Vognetz, of Phoenixville; three grandchildren, Alicia J. Heddings, of Mifflinburg, Michael D. Vognetz, of Coatesville, and Sarah J. Vognetz, of Wilmington, North Carolina; three great grandchildren, Ava Heddings, and Dylan and Maya Vognetz; one sister, Sandra Heimbach, of Milton; and two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Rohland of Maryland, and Golda Rohland of Northumberland.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, William and James Rohland; and four sisters, June Forbes, Judith Rohland, Betty Warfield, and Janet Swartzburg.
Funeral services will be conducted privately at the convenience of the family.
